abstract

micro-electro-mechanical systems (mems) are combination of electrical and mechanical components in micron dimensions. in recent years, holding, actuating methods and handling of mems components such asmicrogripper, microsensors and etc. have been deeply studied. microgrippers for handling, positioning andassembling of micro components are very useful so that for clamping need actuation created usingelectrostatic, electrothermal, and electromagnetic actuators. in this paper, a new design of an electrothermalmicrogripper with u-shape actuators for holding and carrying a wide range of parts at the same time, forvoltages corresponding between 1 to 10 volts, have been fabricated. the microgripper is made of siliconewith thickness of 25 microns, and pieces between 460 to 480 microns that can hold it. the behavior of themicrogripper in multi physics powerful finite element software (comsol) was evaluated and thedisplacements of arms hold and heat generations have been simulated.

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

SIMULATION OF NICKEL ELECTROFORMING PROCESS OF A REVOLVING PART USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

n this paper a finite element model has been proposed for evaluation of primary and secondary current density values on the cathode surface in nickel electroplating operation of a revolving part. In addition, the capability of presented electroplating simulation has been investigated in order to describe the electroplated thickness of the nickel sulfate solution. Nickel electroplating experi...

Simulation of effective parameters on low-carbon steel laser welding process using finite element method

In this paper, laser beam welding of a rectangular piece of steel was simulated using Fluent software. Physical properties of analytical field was constant and its changes with temperature was ignored. In the present work, effect of tool speed and laser power on temperature distribution of workpiece surface and different deeps in the plane of symmetry and also maximum of temperature and depth o...
